All righty, a little about this stamp... had this idea for a while, just not the energy to do it. But now I have it...
I'm tired of illegal immigrants in my country, not paying taxes, feeding off our welfare system (which is also a mess, but made moreso by the millions of illegal immigrants), not speaking ENGLISH (or whatever language the country one lives in speaks primarily), and trafficking drugs/criminals/terrorists/whatever across the borders.
Now I'm American, and my country isn't the only one suffering this problem - all developed nations do. Some care about it, some don't give a rat's ass. America cares about this problem, but our government doesn't seem to think it's a huge problem, and politicians care only about votes, not what their public cares about. This is a huge financial and social issue.
Don't give me, oh they do stuff we wouldn't do... well, they can do it but they should be doing it LEGALLY, and paying their dues to the country they choose to live in. What I don't get is how illegal immigrants can own houses/apartments, have driver's liscenses, go to our schools, and expect the government to foot their bills if something goes wrong. We do not need to cater to them by changing our laws, schools, or being sympathetic. They might come from less fortunate countries, but if they really want to have a better life, they'll do it the right way.
We do not need to put everything in different languages to accomodate this growing population - sure, little pockets of people can do it (i.e., Chinatown, Greektown etc.), but not a whole nation! I am tired of dialing places and hearing, "press 1 to proceed in English", or reading directions and having to look through 50 different styles of writing before I get to the only one I can read!
I could go on and on, but I won't... if you care about your country, wherever you may live, please contact your government or local public office and SAY something!
Press 1 to proceed in English... press 2 for deportation

I agree completely. The border patrol is so bad... and the country doesn't DO anything about it! They just support it!! DX We're even getting calls in SPANISH from Sears because of our last name (which is actually French, lol)... and and... some of the stores have the "If you'd like to hear this in Spanish, press..." first. Not English first, no not the language spoken in our country.
Haha, I'm ranting. X3 Sorry. Anyway, using this in my Stamps Journal!
Good point about the whole "They're doing what 'we' won't do" argument. "Go ahead, let them enter the country! We need people to do dangerous and menial jobs for less than minimum wage! You surely don't expect us to do that sort of thing, do you?"
I don't quite agree that Spanish threatens to replace English in America, though. People in non-Anglophone countries such as Japan usually learn English as a second language; it's quickly becoming a common language, if it isn't already. Personally, I have no big problem with accommodating people (legal immigrants, that is) who haven't learned English yet. I'm learning French right now, and it's pretty dang tough.

Agreed with you on the first segment However with half of the businesses out where I am having nonenglish employees and then not being able to do business with them, it's pretty aggravating... didn't it used to be that you had to learn and speak fluent English to even get a job here? I have no problem with people like foregin students coming to school here, at least they're paying AND learning the native language in the process Legal immigrants are a-ok, so long as they speak our language and abide by our laws... they can do anything save become president
And then you have the politicians up in DC who won't do a damn thing because, oh it's racist and unfair... well, I believe not We should have everything primarily in our language... and people wanting to work or live here should know how to get on in our soicity... culture is good, but not when it tries to take over another country's ways and laws.
Agreed. I find it funny as well that when you go down to Mexico, they don't have any sympathy for you if you don't know the language. If you're in Mexico, you speak Mexican/Spanish. So why can't we do that here? D:
